The Cub House — Eagle River, Wisconsin
The Cub House | Eagle River, Wisconsin

Sleeps 6  ·  2 bedrooms  ·  2 bathrooms  ·  private waterfront

A rebuilt cabin on the Eagle River Chain of 28 Lakes — the world's largest freshwater chain of lakes. Private waterfront. Private dock.

A summer camp cabin, rebuilt without losing what made it worth keeping.

The Cub House sits on the Eagle River Chain of 28 Lakes — private waterfront, private dock, direct access to the largest freshwater chain of lakes in the world. The cabin itself started as a summer camp lodge. It's been rebuilt: new ceilings, kitchen, bathrooms, and finishes throughout. The history stayed. The compromises didn't.

The result is a space that feels considered and intentionally different from what's typical in the area.

Vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, a 12-foot island that anchors the space, and a primary suite with a deep soaking tub and walk-in shower. Three porches overlook the woods and water, with a lit path through the pines leading down to the dock.

The Space

Built once.
Built right.

A full rebuild. The character of the original, none of the compromises.

The Cub House sits on the Deerskin River with access to the Eagle River Chain of 28 Lakes. Originally built as a summer camp lodge, the home was rebuilt without losing what made it worth keeping. The structure remains, but the space has been refined with intention. The history stayed. The compromises didn't.

The result is a space that feels considered and intentionally different from what's typical in the area.

The living room is centered around the fireplace, with seating arranged to feel open without being oversized. Vaulted ceilings carry through the space, with natural light shifting throughout the day.

Kitchen

The kitchen is built around a 12-foot island that anchors the space, with cabinetry designed to frame a large picture window overlooking the yard and surrounding woods. Sight lines are preserved throughout, including across the pass-through toward the back stairwell, where built-in task lamps sit along the ledge, maintaining visibility through the space without breaking the connection to the exterior.

Primary Suite

The primary suite is designed to feel quiet and separate from the rest of the home, centered around a deep soaking tub and walk-in shower.

Guest Bathroom

The guest bath follows the same approach as the rest of the home, with a layout that emphasizes vertical space and light. Dual shower curtains draw attention to the ceiling height, giving the room a more open feel than its footprint suggests.

Bunk Room

The bunk room is designed as a built-in sleeping space that avoids the typical constraints of standard bunk layouts. Both levels provide generous headroom, and a lofted reading nook sits alongside the upper bed, making the space feel intentional rather than compressed.

The Deck

The home includes three covered outdoor spaces. A front porch with seating overlooking the yard, an upper back deck off the kitchen and living area with dining and lounge seating positioned toward the river and woods, and a lower walkout deck that connects directly to the yard, dock, and lit pathways throughout the property. All three are covered, allowing for comfortable outdoor use during summer rain or winter snowfall.

The Property

The camp faded.
The lodge didn't.

We rebuilt it.
We didn't replace it.

The Cub House sits where a summer camp lodge once stood. The footprint stayed. The structure was rebuilt from the ground up, done right. What made it worth keeping, we kept.

The Owners
The Cub House

Our family has been coming to Eagle River for five generations. We rebuilt The Cub House ourselves and manage it directly. We're available if needed, but the space is designed to stand on its own.

The Cub House
Nothing left to chance

The materials, the trades, the details. Everything here was chosen with the understanding that a place either holds up or it doesn't. Nothing was added without purpose, and nothing was left unresolved.

Worthy of the destination
